Spotify has launched the Spotify Partner Program, an innovative initiative designed to assist podcast creators in monetizing their content. This program, initially accessible to eligible creators in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia, offers various revenue streams.
The unique dual monetization strategy enables creators to generate income from both Spotify Premium users through video engagement payouts and from advertisements on Spotify Free and other podcast platforms.
According to Spotify, “This program provides eligible creators hosting with us access to multiple revenue streams that can help them turn their shows into sustainable businesses.” The key feature of this program allows Spotify Premium users to enjoy uninterrupted viewing without any random ads interruptions.
Premium users benefit from ad-free video playback while traditional dynamic ads are still displayed for free-tier listeners. By allowing creators to maintain their sponsorships intact, this shift helps avoid ad interruptions and ensures engaging episodes across different devices.
Jim Harold, host of The Paranormal Podcast, is thrilled about utilizing this program as it caters to existing audio listeners while also attracting viewers with long-form videos. The announcement of the Spotify Partner Program was made in November, with 65% of eligible shows and networks reportedly signing up for it.
