Looking Forward to Elden Ring DLC? Check Out These 5 Games

While fans of Elden Ring await the release of the game’s DLC, Shadow⁢ of ⁤the Erdtree, there are⁢ several promising Soulslikes‌ and similarly Dark Souls-inspired games set to release in‍ the near future. Although Demon’s Souls, Dark ‌Souls, and other games ‍like them ⁣were originally almost solely developed by FromSoftware, the genre has exploded in⁣ popularity and size as the studio’s ‌games have continued to see success, with a number of noteworthy games having managed to ⁤take inspiration and set themselves apart. With ⁢the release of⁢ Elden Ring and the announcement of the game’s DLC, ‌the genre has ⁤only continued to grow.

Despite originally being ‌announced ‌on February 28, 2023,⁢ Shadow of the Erdtree has yet to‍ receive any further marketing – although, with ⁣a‌ few big events still left in 2023, Elden Ring DLC news may ‌not be far off. With only a vague promotional image and the name to speculate on, ‍there are practically no concrete details for ⁢fans to get excited about just yet, aside from simply being more Elden Ring. ⁣In the meantime, however, before the DLC potentially receives a new trailer or ⁢release date, there are‍ a number of upcoming Soulslikes for fans of the genre to look ‌forward to.

The sequel to Blasphemous, one of the ‍most notable‍ Soulslike Metroidvanias, Blasphemous 2 continues the story of the Penitent One, bringing back the original game’s signature artstyle and ⁢gameplay. Developed by The Game Kitchen, ⁣Blasphemous 2 is set to release on August 24, and will bring with⁢ it a new map to ‌explore, along with new secrets,⁣ enemies, and bosses. Perhaps one of the game’s most notable new features, however, ⁣are its new weapons, as trailers show three different ⁢main weapons to choose from, all with unique movesets, allowing players to switch up ‍their ⁢playstyles more than in the previous game.

Set to release on October 13, Lords⁢ of the Fallen is being developed by HexWorks as ⁣a reboot/spiritual successor to the 2014 game of the same name. ‌Originally developed by Deck13, who would⁢ later go on to create The Surge series, 2014’s Lords of the ⁤Fallen was one of the first games outside FromSoftware’s creations to emulate the mechanics of the Souls ‍games – before “Soulslike” had solidified as a genre of its ⁢own. While the original game⁣ received a mixed reception, however, the ‍new Lords of the Fallen is shaping up⁣ to be ⁣more unique.
