Honkai: Star Rail‘s Aeons are a crucial aspect of the game, alongside Elements. Each character follows a specific Path, which is overseen by an Aeon. These godlike beings possess immense power and influence schools of thought throughout the galaxy. For example, the Xianzhou Alliance is associated with Lan, the Aeon of the Hunt, and they are mortal enemies of Yaoshi, the Aeon of The Abundance. Despite their godly status, these creatures can be defeated, and it is likely that the Trailblazer will encounter at least one of them.
In Honkai: Star Rail, there are seven playable Paths, each corresponding to a main Aeon. However, there are many other Aeons in the lore who have either been absorbed or eliminated. Currently, there are 18 known Aeons, although only seven of them take center stage. Some of these additional Aeons appear in Herta’s Simulated Universe, such as Fuli, the Aeon of Remembrance, and Aha, the Aeon of Elation. While they play important roles within the game mode, only the seven main Aeons are playable with characters.
Nanook, the Aeon of Destruction, is a newly formed Aeon in Honkai: Star Rail. Despite their evil alignment, the characters who follow the Path of Destruction are not necessarily evil themselves. Nanook embodies chaos and destruction, even at the cost of their own well-being, and this trait is reflected in most Destruction characters as well.
The Aeon that governs the Path of Nihility in Honkai: Star Rail is IX. This Aeon is represented by a combination of a black hole and a galaxy, symbolizing their enigmatic nature. IX has no connections to other Aeons and resides in a state that aligns with the Path of Nihility – they see no value in life and have chosen to isolate themselves.
Characters who follow the Path of Nihility in Honkai: Star Rail may not be as pessimistic as IX, but they tend to be more cynical by nature. Their focus on debuffs mirrors IX’s desire for isolation, as they do not engage in battle as the main DPS and do not directly support their team members.
