Neil Young has made a comeback on Spotify after a two-year boycott, as he announced in a recent blog post. The Canadian musician initially left the platform due to vaccine misinformation on the Joe Rogan podcast, and later cited dissatisfaction with Spotify’s sound quality.
Young’s return is attributed to the fact that Rogan’s podcast is no longer exclusive to Spotify. He also mentioned that Apple and Amazon are now featuring the same disinformation podcasts that he had opposed on Spotify.
He expressed his inability to remove his catalog from Apple Music and Amazon, as it would limit the streaming options for his music. Young also expressed hope for Spotify to enhance its sound quality, while acknowledging Quobuz and Tidal for their high-res music presentation.
Addressing Spotify, he urged the platform to strive for excellence and improve in all aspects, emphasizing its potential to be the top choice for music and listeners.
