Player ratings have leaked ahead of NBA 2K24‘s upcoming release, suggesting who players will most want to recruit. 2K24’s returning MyTEAM game mode allows players to recruit from a roster of NBA athletes, mold them into an effective team, and take them to the court. It’s long been one of the most popular game modes for a reason: it scratches that fantasy team itch, and dominating the court with a team full of all-stars can be so satisfying. Player ratings are also updated as the NBA season unfolds for a realistic, up-to-date experience.
But before a player can join an NBA 2K24 team, they have to be rated first. Players in 2K24 are ranked numerically in six stats: Inside Scoring, Outside Scoring, Athleticism, Playmaking, Rebounding, and Defending, which are then combined for an overall score that can go up to 99. They’re also given Archetypes, descriptors that reflect their unique strengths. Players also receive badges, like unique power-ups that give them special bonuses in their areas of expertise. While there’s more to building a team than just picking the best players, having a stacked roster definitely helps. Among current NBA players, these are the best of the best in 2K24.
With an overall rating of 94 according to leaked stats from 2K Ratings, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander makes the top 10 list in NBA 2K24. Currently bouncing between the point guard and shooting guard positions for the Oklahoma City Thunder, SGA got his start with the University of Kentucky Wildcats. In 2K24, he excels at Outside Scoring and Playmaking, but is less reliable when it comes to Rebounding. SGA also has high Speed and long-lasting Stamina, so he can keep up during long plays. As the name implies, his Clutch Shooter badge makes him especially handy in a tight spot, boosting his shots when the other team has a slight lead in the late game.
Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard (who has requested a trade at the time of writing) boasts a 95 overall rating in NBA 2K24. Lillard was the sixth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft and has remained with the Blazers ever since. In 2K24, Lillard is best when it comes to Outside Scoring - his mid-range shot is one to watch out for.
Defense is a weak spot for him, though, so he’s best used as an offensive player as a Versatile Offensive Force Archetype. Lillard is also an excellent playmaker with a high Pass IQ and skilled Ball Handling. His high Stamina and Amped Badge also reduce penalties to his shots when he’s fatigued.
