Larian Discusses Baldur’s Gate 3’s “Cut Content” and Promises a Fitting Conclusion for Kharlah

This was ⁣not the kind of mass dissatisfaction seen with the ending ⁣of Mass Effect 3, but in recent weeks ⁤Larian has received some hate for the ⁢resolution of Baldur’s Gate 3, particularly regarding⁤ Carlah’s fate. Larian has‌ decided to respond to this: ‍In their ‍blog about what will be in the next ⁢major patch for Baldur’s Gate 3, ‌the studio announces that they will add “the best ‍ending to the final act of the story in the‍ form ‍of a more ‍elaborate ending⁣ for Carlah”.

Specifically, Patch 2 for Baldur’s Gate 3 will include a “new optional ending with Carlah”, which Larian claims is ‌”passionate, piercing, and gives her the ending she deserves”.

Most of ‍the blog post is dedicated to discussing “cut content” that was discovered through data mining, and ‌speculations⁤ about how the third act of Baldur’s Gate 3⁢ suffered from last-minute exclusion of previously planned scenes and quests. While Larian claims that yes, some things were cut from Baldur’s Gate 3, the studio disagrees with ⁤the assumed reason for the cuts and states that some things referred to as ‌”cut content” are not actually cut content, but simply mistakes.

Some things that‍ are currently associated⁢ with “cut content” are actually companions’ reactions to‌ events in‍ the world that⁢ didn’t work out.

According to Larian, ⁤the technical execution of the third act is also considered as “cut content”,⁤ which, according to their ⁢admission, “is not as good as the first two acts”. The studio claims that “Patch 2 brings significant improvements to‌ the performance of the entire game, especially the third act”.
