Lack of Interest in “The Witcher” Season 3 Extends Beyond Poor Ratings

The Netflix platform has released the viewing results for the previous week, revealing that the 3rd season of “The Witcher” had relatively low viewership compared to its competitors and previous seasons.

During the week of June 26 to July 2, the new season accumulated a total of 73 million hours watched, making it the most popular English-language series on Netflix. However, the latest episodes received significantly less attention compared to previous storylines within the same universe.

In December 2021, the second season of “The Witcher” was watched for a total of 142 million hours. The release of new episodes had a positive impact on the show’s viewership, resulting in an additional 49 million hours added to the overall view count for the first part of the season.

During the premiere of the first season of “The Witcher,” it set a record for the platform with 76 million viewers. This made it the biggest debut in the history of Netflix. At that time, exact hourly results were not provided as the service analyzed viewership differently. However, considering the circumstances, it can be assumed that the statistics were much higher than the 73 million hours after the first weekend following the premiere.

Compared to competitors such as “Fubar” (88.9 million), “Night Agent” (168 million), “Outer Shores” (Season 3, 154 million), “You” (Season 4, 92 million), or “Wednesday” (118 million), the 3rd season of “The Witcher” had a poor start. Undoubtedly, subscribers of the platform showed greater interest in these shows.
