Is there a canon lightsaber color for Cal Kestis?

Players can choose⁢ between a variety of lightsaber options‍ in⁤ Respawn⁤ Entertainment’s Star Wars: Jedi titles.‌ While ⁢this customization ⁤is great – ⁤and Jedi: Survivor took ⁣it to ⁣another level with the number of parts that could be‍ collected⁣ around⁣ its various planet hubs – this does raise the question⁤ of whether ⁣the ⁣game’s protagonist ⁣Cal Kestis has ‍a⁣ canon lightsaber color.

Initially, lightsabers started ‌off⁤ as⁢ blue ⁣and red to signify who⁤ was good ⁤and⁣ evil, respectively, then Luke’s ‍new lightsaber in Return ⁣of the Jedi was green simply ⁤so it would ⁣show⁢ against ⁤the‌ blue sky during the fight on Jabba’s ⁢barge due to the⁤ technology of the⁢ time that movie was‍ made.⁢ Since⁤ then, different colors ⁤such as‍ white, yellow, orange,⁢ and purple – ⁤the latter‍ simply ⁢because‍ it was Samuel L. Jackson’s‍ favorite ⁢color⁣ – had ‍been introduced, ⁤and ⁤Star⁤ Wars⁤ started‌ incorporating these ⁤colors into lightsaber ⁤lore, with them each‌ representing‍ aspects of their ‍lightsabers’⁤ owners. Jedi:⁣ Survivor ⁢introduced⁢ three new⁢ lightsaber ‌colors to choose⁣ from, ‌cyan,‍ indigo, and magenta in‌ addition to those‍ seen ‌in ‍other Star Wars media.

Although⁢ Respawn Entertainment⁤ hasn’t provided a definitive answer, Cal’s canon lightsaber⁤ is most likely the traditional blue. The promotional ⁤art ‌and‍ trailers for ⁢both ‌Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor ‌shows Cal wielding a ⁤blue lightsaber, despite ⁣players being able to change the color ⁢very ‌early on‍ in ‌each ‌game.

This⁤ is‍ backed up by the fact that ⁣in the ‌scenes prior‍ to being given the⁤ option‌ to customize ⁣Cal’s lightsaber – such as Jedi: Survivor’s Coruscant‍ intro in⁢ which ⁣he ‌fights⁣ a team led by ⁣the Ninth‌ Sister – Cal’s lightsaber is ‍blue. Cal’s ⁣lightsaber also appeared blue in Jedi: Fallen Order’s flashbacks ⁣to his training‌ as‌ a Padawan ⁣with⁣ Jedi ⁣Master Jaro Tapal,‌ and again when⁢ he creates ⁤his second, dual-bladed lightsaber on Ilum ‍before players⁣ get‍ the option⁢ to change‌ its color again, so with this ‍latter‍ cutscene in‌ particular ⁣not opting to ‍adapt to the⁢ color players have ‍chosen, it seems ⁢highly likely that Respawn Entertainment⁢ considers blue to⁢ be ⁣the ⁣canon‌ color for the young ‌Jedi.

A ‍blue‌ lightsaber‌ would make sense for Cal, as⁢ it’s supposed ‌to ⁣represent ⁣righteousness and bravery,⁢ which are traits⁢ Cal demonstrates consistently throughout ‍his story.⁤ Blue was also⁢ used ‍to ⁢indicate ⁤that ⁤the⁣ user ⁢was a⁤ Jedi Guardian,⁤ someone ⁤who was ⁢highly skilled in lightsaber ⁢combat, which Cal clearly seems to be, having combined a ‌variety of different ⁢lightsaber ⁤forms into ⁤his⁤ combat style, ‌rather ⁣than merely mastering one⁢ like most ⁣Jedi.
