Reports from the Times of Israel indicate that Iranian military forces have intercepted a tanker en route to India from the UAE, flying the Portuguese flag and owned by the Zodiac Group company of Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer. Surprisingly, it was later discovered that the vessel is actually operated by the Geneva-based firm MSC.
According to the Associated Press, elite forces from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) conducted a daring operation by descending onto the deck of the ship from a helicopter. The Iranian state news agency IRNA confirmed that the IRGC took control of the MSC Aries container ship near the Strait of Hormuz, redirecting it towards Iran’s waters.
Recent reports also suggest that in response to a potential threat from Iran, two US destroyers have been dispatched to safeguard Israel from any direct attacks. This move comes as American authorities, relying on intelligence sources, anticipate hostile actions from Iran in the near future.
The speculated motives behind Iran’s aggressive stance could be linked to an Israeli airstrike on April 1, targeting the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, Syria. This attack resulted in the casualties of high-ranking Iranian military personnel.
