Los Angeles, a limousine worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, a chase…. Does this remind you of anything? For someone, it will surely remind them of the Grand Theft Auto game series. And to make it even more interesting, this whole situation ended in GTA style.
A thief decided to steal a Rolls Royce Phantom limousine worth about $500,000, which, of course, did not go unnoticed by the owner or the authorities quickly alerted by him. A helicopter chase was organized, but even that did not help the law enforcement officers – the hijacker unexpectedly turned into one of the small alleys, and then disappeared in a multi-level parking lot. Do you think such a trick only works in the game? Not at all – the thief and his loot vanished into thin air.
Possibly, the chase would have been more effective if the police also started using tactics like in GTA, for example, ramming the car. However, trying not to get too close to the fleeing robber, they probably remembered the value of the car, as well as the safety of pedestrians. The robber, on the other hand, apparently knew the street layout of the city well, so his escape maneuver into the alley was not only an attempt to hide, but also to avoid traffic jams. The whole incident can be seen in the footage shown by an American TV channel:
Leaving the main road worked like hide and seek in GTA, and after a while, as if by magic, all the “wanted stars” disappeared. It is unknown whether the police were counting on any additional security measures installed in the car (for example, a GPS transmitter to facilitate tracking), but the car has not been found yet.
Let’s hope that this case does not make headlines in news programs as another delusional proof that video games are to blame for everything.
