The family of Claudia Kambanza, a 22-year-old woman who tragically lost her life after being stabbed on Hinderwell Street in Hull, paid tribute to their beloved daughter, describing her as “kind and bubbly”.
The suspect, Mateus Johannes, 28, has been charged with Kambanza’s murder and the possession of a bladed article in a public space. He is currently in custody and will appear before Hull crown court on 28 March.
Kambanza and Johannes, originally from Namibia, were known to have a joint TikTok account with over 1,000 followers, where they shared videos about their relationship. The family has set up a GoFundMe page to raise £15,000 to bring Kambanza’s body back to Namibia.
Supt Al Curtis, of Humberside police, released a statement to assure the local community about safety in the area after Kambanza’s death, stating that the incident is believed to be isolated and there is no wider risk to the public.
