Israel says its fighter jets have targeted Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon following an antitank missile attack that injured Israelis near the border.
The Israeli army stated on Sunday that “a number of civilians were wounded” in the antitank missile strike near the village of Dovev, located just 800 metres (0.5 miles) from the Lebanon border.
The Israel Electric Corporation reported that the missile from Lebanon “hit employees” who were in Dovev to repair power lines that had been damaged in previous attacks.
Hezbollah, backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for the attack and stated that it had targeted an Israeli team installing “eavesdropping and spying devices” near the border.
Since the Hamas attack on October 7, followed by Israel’s offensive in Gaza, Israel has engaged in daily exchanges of fire with armed groups in southern Lebanon.
During the Gaza assault, Israel has caused the deaths of over 11,000 people, with 74 percent of them being women and children, and has displaced 1.7 million people over the past five weeks.
