Sonos is gearing up to launch the successor to the Roam speaker from 2021, just in time for your outdoor summer adventures. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in the Power On newsletter, the Roam 2 speaker is expected to be released in June. The original Roam was Sonos’ second attempt at a portable speaker, featuring a slim, triangular design that weighs less than a pound but delivers impressive sound.
Gurman also mentioned that the new Roam will include the same touch-sensitive control panel found in some of Sonos’ other speakers, such as the Era 100. Additionally, Sonos is said to be developing a new app to pair with its devices, starting with the Roam 2 and a forthcoming set of premium headphones positioned as a competitor to AirPods Max. Gurman reports that these headphones will be priced at $450 and are expected to be released in June, slightly later than originally planned.
