Strongholds are important locations in Diablo IV where players can challenge a large number of enemies to unlock fast travel Waypoints. There are three Strongholds in the Fractured Peaks region of the game, which are predetermined when players discover a new area on the map. These places can only be challenged once, unlike dens or dungeons. Defeating a Stronghold can unlock new vendors, giving players more than enough reason to liberate these areas from Hell’s control.
The Fractured Peaks region has Strongholds in the Kor Dragan, Nostrava, and Malnok areas. Each Stronghold hosts enemies that are designed to be a few levels above the player’s current character. Players may want to tackle these zones with friends through co-op multiplayer, balancing a team of different builds for various classes. Each Stronghold has a unique gimmick with its own story beats, making the experience fresh every time for players of Diablo 4.
The Nostrava Stronghold is located north of the Prologue village Nevesk and directly west of Kyovashad. Although this place seems normal at first, players should visit the church here and speak to the Priestess to activate a battle with crazy villagers. Five Demonic Effigies are scattered around the village, feeding power to Hell’s faithful in Diablo 4, which players should destroy before facing off against three bosses named Negala, Torvala, and Kozira to complete the Stronghold.
The Kor Dragan Stronghold is located north of Kyovashad and right above Menestad. A vampiric presence resides here, with small Blood Orbs empowering a large Vampire Corruption mass of Blood that players must destroy before facing a Vampiric Aberration that spawns after the destruction of these foul devices. In the village archives in Diablo 4, players have to defeat Nilcar, the Forgotten Bishop, to truly purge this Stronghold of evil.
The Malnok Stronghold is located in the direct center of the Fractured Peaks in the middle of many dungeons. A deadly storm of ice is being gathered here by Ice Clan Stormcallers, who players must kill to stop the frozen ritual. Once the magic has been stopped, players have to fend off against waves of Ice Clan enemies before facing off against Frosthorn, Ice Clan Champion, to finish this Stronghold.
