Exploring the Advantages and Disadvantages of Different Religions in Starfield: Making the Right Choice

Players⁢ can choose their characters’ religions in Starfield, allowing them to share a faith that can provide bonuses, which include items and buffs – as‍ well ⁣as disadvantages, under certain circumstances. Starfield, Bethesda’s new ‍action RPG, is set many ‍years in the future, ⁣a ‍moment‍ in‌ history when humanity ⁣has already⁤ mastered space exploration and now lives as a species that establishes several ⁢settlements across the universe. This interstellar civilization ‌is exactly ⁢what allows Starfield characters to exist, as‌ they too are explorers who navigate⁢ the stars. Players are able to visit several ‍cities and, within ‍them, meet several different people and groups of individuals.

Among these groups are various religions that the main character can ‍align themselves to, if they opt for it. These Starfield religions are somewhat like ‌factions and, as such, allow ⁤players to align themselves with these faiths. This‍ will grant them different benefits depending on the chosen religion. They ⁤can vary from unique items that can be⁣ claimed for free to special dialogue options that can be used ⁣during quests. Choosing a religion ⁢is not a requirement to beat‍ Starfield’s⁢ main story,‌ but it can significantly alter the gameplay – and give a unique insight into how faiths may work in the distant future.

There are a total‌ of three religions‌ in‍ Starfield that are considered playable, though many others exist in the lore of the game. The playable⁤ ones are the Enlightened, the‌ Sanctum Universum, and House ⁣Va’ruun. These faiths ⁣conflict with each other,⁣ either directly or in terms of ⁢simple ⁤ideology, so players can only actually join one of them at a time. It is possible to leave a religion altogether, which will then enable them to⁢ try ‍out‌ other⁣ religions but‌ sticking to ⁤one ‍or another can⁢ prove beneficial. Two of the ⁣groups are rather popular and well-accepted in society, while the last religion is seen as a cult.

One of ⁤the three religions in ‍Starfield is called the ‍Enlightened, but curiously enough, this ⁣faith is not actually placed on a higher⁢ being, but on humanity ‍itself. ‌Enlighted is a group of atheistic ‍people who‌ believe ‍that⁢ humankind ‌alone‍ is capable ⁤of creating its own path‌ into the future,⁤ without‌ the need of a god to look after them. In fact, they believe that humanity should take care of⁤ itself and, as such, are well-known for their humanitarian work across the ⁣universe. Members of the Enlightened contribute to several settlements with a focus on community work and the growth of humankind.

If‍ players choose to join ⁢the Enlightened, ‍they will gain a trait called Raised Enlightened. This ⁣trait is what blocks‍ other religions from ‌being chosen. ⁤It is ‍also what grants an exclusive benefit: a ‌cache of items that can be collected from ‍a chest ‌within the House of the ⁢Enlightened located‍ in New Atlantis ⁢city in ‍Starfield. The loot‌ is unimpressive, granting the player a few resources, ⁣more‌ information ⁣on the Enlightened faith itself, and a special Settler…
