According to “RIA Novosti”, the Internet Development Institute (IRI) has funded around 40 interactive games in the last three years. Deputy General Director Andrey Voronkov is optimistic about the future release of more games from domestic teams.
“Over the past three years, we have funded about 40 gaming projects, but the production time is quite long, so games will now appear more and more often considering the production time,” said Andrey Voronkov.
The organization has invested over 1.5 billion rubles in the mentioned pile of titles. It is worth noting that “Smuta” alone required about 500 million rubles. According to the Deputy General Director of IRI, the creation Cyberia Nova became the first project of such scale and complexity for the Institute and therefore will “remain special forever”.

“Smuta” has been released — the most high-profile Russian game in recent months. What should you know about it?
The most important projects for IRI this year will be “Smuta”, “Frontline”, “Sparta”, and “Museum Secrets”. Voronkov also announced the creation of educational quests in anticipation of Unity Day, celebrated on November 4th.
Voronkov did not predict the sales volume of “Smuta”. Instead, he shared statistics related to the game. According to the leader, ”Smuta” attracted the attention of a third of all Russian Internet users and half of the audience of Russian social networks.
Clips related to “Smuta” have gathered 3.8 million views on various platforms. Lectures on the Time of Troubles — also within the scope of work on the game — have reached over 15 million views. Here is the near-gaming content at the intersection of several media. Furthermore, materials about “Smuta” in our social networks over the past year resulted in 48 million views and over 1 million likes.
It is worth reminding that “Smuta” was released exclusively on VK Play on April 4. At the time of publication, the title has a rating of 6.5 out of 10. Gamers praised the graphics, music, and atmosphere of the game, but many were dissatisfied with the quality of dialogues, animations, and quests. The main complaint is about optimization — the action game lags even on powerful systems.
Complaints about bugs have already started to appear, which prevent players from continuing the gameplay. For example, to solve a problem in a swamp task, developers advised reverting back a few saves and redistributing the character’s characteristics slightly differently.
Yesterday, the game received its first update. It fixed issues with autosaves, removed a “soft lock” that occurred with simultaneous dialogue start with NPC and calling a horse, and also eliminated a problem where some 2D cutscenes were skipped. Any bugs and issues in “Smuta” can be reported through the feedback form.
