During the gamescom 2023 exhibition, several journalists visited the gameplay presentation of the remake of the first “Gothic,” conducted by the game’s executive producer Reinhard Pollice and composer Kai Rosenkranz. Last week, we shared detailed information about the showcased gameplay, based on materials from TechRadar. A similar article later appeared on Gamestar, where some additional details can be found.
Pollice announced that the guards will not be constantly patrolling the gates. Therefore, it can be assumed that at some point, the entrance will be completely unguarded. Who knows, maybe this will be one of the ways to infiltrate the castle?
Players may witness various random situations, such as the fights among prisoners from the recent trailer. However, it is not yet clear how diverse and frequent they will be. Let’s hope that Alkimia Interactive Studio does not overdo this aspect.
It is expected that there will be even more stairs in the remake than in the original. However, Pollice assured that there will be no problems with climbing them (some of them were terribly “glitchy” in the original).
The game will feature situational animations. For example, near the square, a dead body with flies buzzing around it was found. When approaching it, the protagonist will cover his nose.
Some time ago, we learned that item crafting will be significantly expanded compared to the original – for example, it will be possible to craft arrows. It turns out that the same applies to cooking. In addition to grilling meat, we will prepare simple dishes based on obtained recipes.
Although these elements (except for stairs) were absent in the original, it must be admitted that, at least “on paper,” they fit into the world of “Gothic” and should make it much more plausible.
Whether they will stand up to scrutiny will be seen in 2024 when Gothic Remake is released on PC, PS5, and XSX/S.
