Diablo IV’s microtransactions will not affect gameplay, but they will come at a high cost. The cosmetic shop offers special mounts priced at up to $15, while armor for classes like the Necromancer can cost as much as $25.
Some of these prices were leaked on Reddit, and now that Diablo IV is in its early access period for those with the Deluxe Edition, we can confirm that prices for the current items in the microtransaction shop range from not surprising to extremely high. The Death’s Burden Mount Armor, for example, is priced at 800 platinum, the game’s premium currency. The cheapest armor sets are around 1,200 platinum, while the Wraith Lord set requires 2,800 platinum.
As with many live-service games, the conversion from real-world dollars to platinum is not one-to-one. Therefore, an 800 platinum mount armor set will require the purchase of 1,000 platinum for $10. To avoid annoying players, $25 will get you 300 “free” bonus platinum, giving you exactly 2,800, the amount required for the Wraith Lord set.
