With the 27th anniversary of the Pokemon series right around the corner, a pair of fans will tie the knot later this month. The pair chose to be married on Pokemon Day as a way to symbolize their connection and posted some art of their wedding announcement on Reddit. The art piece received a lot of praise on the platform, with many Pokemon fans offering well wishes to the soon-to-be newlyweds.
Video games have always provided a way for people to connect and interact with one another, with some even making friendships that last. Sometimes said friendships can blossom into something more. With games such as Overwatch leading to the marriage of two players, video games have proven to be one method of people finding someone special. In the case of Pokemon, two trainers turned their passion for themselves and the franchise into the perfect wedding date.
Pokemon Day takes place on Monday, February 27. On the r/Pokemon subreddit, a user named akturuh posted the art of their wedding announcement. The couple, named Dannie and Dallas, were featured front and center in the drawing alongside some Pokemon. Of the Pokemon featured, an Eevee was standing on the groom’s shoulder, while a Shaymin in Sky Forme jumped over the bride’s dress. Some of the other Pokemon scattered through the picture included an Aipom, an Emolga, and a family of three Tandemaus in a bush behind the groom. As it so happens, Tandemaus will be featured in a Valentine’s Day Tera raid event in the coming days in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
On the top right of the picture, a pair of Vivillon with modern and monsoon wing patterns flew past the couple. Originally from Pokemon X and Y, Vivillon can be found in Pokemon GO throughout parts of North America and Southeast Asia, with each respective region having the modern and monsoon pattern Vivillon. This detail was pointed out by other Redditors that commented on akturuh’s post. The post itself had over 4.1k upvotes on r/Pokemon within the first several hours. The majority of the comments sent their congratulations to Dannie and Dallas on their upcoming nuptials and praised the art dedicated to the occasion.
