CD Projekt remains dedicated to crafting immersive narrative adventures and has no plans to veer towards game-service production, as confirmed by CEO Michal Nowakowski in an interview with Game Developer.
While future projects from CD Projekt may incorporate online elements, they will serve to enhance rather than replace the beloved “single-player” experience:
Our focus has always been on developing expansive RPGs with rich narratives and open worlds. While we may explore multiplayer features in the future, it will never come at the expense of single-player content. Any additions will be just that – additions, not replacements.
The CEO of CD Projekt firmly believes that narrative-driven games still hold a special place in the market, catering to gamers who value epic adventures over fleeting trends:
I am confident that there is a demand for the type of games we create – vast open-world experiences that offer immersive storytelling. These games have always been a cornerstone of our studio, and we will continue to prioritize them. The success of our business speaks volumes, showing that there is enduring appeal for such experiences, even in a rapidly evolving industry.
Despite some experimentation with online gaming, CD Projekt ultimately decided to refocus on perfecting their core games. Their foray into a multiplayer shooter based on Cyberpunk 2077 was abandoned in favor of enhancing the main game. Additionally, the company discontinued support for “GWENT” in 2023, after several years of operation.
