Prepare for the highly anticipated comeback of the iconic duo of heroes: Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery are set to reprise their roles in the upcoming “Boondock Saints” installment.
According to Deadline, Reedus and Flannery will once again portray the characters of Murphy and Connor MacManus in the third movie. While it was confirmed in 2021 that a third film was in the works with the original actors and director returning, the latest report from Deadline reveals that Troy Duffy, the director of the first two films, will not be helming the project. Instead, he has opted to continue the Saints’ saga through a series of novels.
The article also mentions that Thunder Road Pictures, known for the “John Wick” series and the upcoming “Manxman” film, has joined the production. They are teaming up with Dragonfly Films, the current rights holder of the “Boondock Saints” franchise.
For those unfamiliar with “Boondock Saints”, the initial film was released in 1999 and follows the tale of two Irish brothers seeking retribution. Despite initially underperforming at the box office, the movie gained a devoted following and eventually received a sequel a decade later titled “Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day”.
