Beeper Mini, the chat app that reverse-engineered Apple’s iMessage for Android, is currently experiencing issues. According to a report from 9to5Google, the entire Beeper platform appears to be broken, leading to speculation that Apple may have taken action against the unauthorized iMessage workaround. Beeper has acknowledged the problem on X, stating that they are investigating reports of sending and receiving not working in Beeper Mini.
Engadget reached out to Beeper co-founder Eric Migicovsky via email to inquire whether the outage could be attributed to Apple. Migicovsky suggested that it is a possibility, stating, “We had overwhelming interest and excitement in Beeper Mini this week! As I tweeted, Beeper Mini is experiencing an outage — sending and receiving is not working right now.”
