Baldur’s Gate 3 Release Date Pushed Back, PC Launch Moved Up by One Month

Today, Larian Studios announced new release dates for Baldur’s Gate 3. The PC version will be released earlier than expected, while the PS5 version will be released slightly later.

The PC version has been postponed by almost a month – from August 31 to August 3. On the other hand, the PS5 version will be released on September 6, which is a good compromise, at least for PC gamers.

The press release accompanying the announcements featured a comment from creative director Sven Vincke.

We set out to create a game that would reward players’ creative approach and truly bring D&D to life in a cinematic manner, exploring the breadth and depth that role-playing games can offer. Baldur’s Gate 3 has become an astronomical game that never ceases to amaze, and I’m very proud of the team. We couldn’t have done it without our early access community, but it’s incredibly satisfying to think that they’ve experienced less than a quarter of what BG3 has to offer during this time. I can’t wait to hear the stories our players will tell when the full version of the game is released. It’s time to assemble your party.

Although Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming out on PC and PS5, Larian previously mentioned that the game is not exclusive and may be released on Xbox if technical obstacles are overcome. The PC version of the game has been in early access for quite some time. Originally, the game, which will bring the Forgotten Realms setting back to video games, collaborated with Google Stadia and was supposed to be released on the cloud service before its predictable failure and shutdown.
