Baldur’s Gate 3 Developers’ Plans Unveiled by Head of Larian Studios

The head of Larian Studios, Sven Vincke, revealed the plans of his organization for the upcoming game Baldur’s Gate 3 in an interview with Eurogamer portal.

The developer noted that the company considers not only the success of the title, but also its failure. Vincke compared Larian’s situation to CD Projekt RED in 2015, when the Polish studio was preparing for the release of The Witcher 3. Success helped CDPR create Cyberpunk 2077. In case of good sales of Baldur’s Gate 3, Vincke’s team will also work on an ambitious project.

I already know what we want to do next. Larian Studios had six years to think about other ideas. But we need to find out if the market is ready for Baldur’s Gate 3. If it is, then we will continue working on innovations in the genre, and if not, then we will move in a slightly different direction. This is something that cannot be known in advance. – Sven Vincke, head of Larian Studios

Recall that the release of Baldur’s Gate 3 will take place on August 3, 2023, on PC. The game will reach PlayStation 5 on September 6. According to rumors, the developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 shifted the game’s release from August 31 in order not to compete with Starfield.
