Studio Larian Studios announced that the release date of Baldur’s Gate 3 for PC has been moved to August 3, 2023, almost a month earlier than the previously announced release date of August 31. The PS5 version, on the other hand, has been delayed to September 6, so fortunately, it only represents an additional week of waiting for console gamers.

A list of details has also been revealed, which undoubtedly sounds very interesting, indicating that Baldur’s Gate 3 will be a very, very big game.

The script of Baldur’s Gate 3 contains more dialogues than three times all three books of “The Lord of the Rings” combined, with over 2 million words.
Over 170 hours of cinematic scenes, which is twice the duration of all seasons of “Game of Thrones” combined.
7 playable main characters, each with their own rich history, personality, desires, and goals, as well as the best-in-class character creation system for creating custom characters.
Play as one of 11 playable races and 31 subraces, with multiple body types.
12 classes and 46 subclasses, compared to Divinity: Original Sin 2 which had 10 “schools of magic.”

Director of Publishing, Michael Douse, has promised that the game will achieve 60 FPS on PS5.

“We’ve always been a studio that strives to release a game on as many platforms as possible as soon as they’re ready. We’ve also strived for the utmost quality on every platform we’ve released on. Right now, we’re hitting 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5, which is just great considering the scale and depth of Baldur’s Gate 3. There are over 170 hours of cinematic scenes in the game, which is more than twice the duration of all of Game of Thrones, and more than triple the amount of dialogue in all three Lord of the Rings novels put together. It’s a huge, sprawling game that really brings D&D to life, with multiplayer and split-screen cooperative play that’s roughly four times the scale of our previous game, Divinity: Original Sin 2. Hitting that technical benchmark commensurate with our design ambitions felt like the right thing to do, while delaying the PC version when we knew we had it ready, felt like the wrong thing to do in such a busy launch period.”

Further details about Baldur’s Gate 3 will be revealed on July 7 during the live event Panel From Hell: Release Showcase.
