Baffled by the Lack of Similar Games, Baldur’s Gate 3 Creator Seeks Answers

In ⁢recent times, there⁢ have been⁤ claims from various developers that ⁤Baldur’s ‌Gate ⁤3 is an anomaly and should not become a new industry ‌standard. They argue that ‌the ‍game, created under unusual conditions by Larian ⁣Studios, is unique‌ in its‌ dynamics. ⁢It is somewhat strange that ⁢even Blizzard employees are discussing ‌it.

Meanwhile, Swen Vincke, ⁣the ⁣founder and ‌CEO⁢ of Larian Studios and the⁤ game director of ⁣Baldur’s Gate 3,‌ expressed his‍ confusion about the relatively small number of ‍classic ‌role-playing⁤ games ⁢being created. He wonders if there will ‌be more⁤ games that are as⁢ big, complex, ⁢and ‌polished as BG3.

When asked about the ‍scarcity of isometric ⁤RPGs in the ‌market, Vincke⁤ responded:

Honestly, I don’t understand it. We have proven‍ with our game Original Sin that there is a huge demand for⁣ it. ⁤Other⁤ studios make ‌their own decisions ⁢about it. We enjoy‍ creating‌ these‌ games and find⁢ pleasure in it. Fortunately, ⁢we are able to⁤ finance our development because we sell enough copies. As ⁤long as this cycle continues, we are⁢ happy. ‌Personally, I would like to see more ⁣people⁣ making similar games because I would love to play them. But⁢ for now, ‍there are⁢ not many⁢ games like⁤ ours, and I hope that changes.

Hopefully, after the ⁤release of Baldur’s‌ Gate III,⁤ some ⁤development ‍teams will be inspired to follow ⁣in the ⁢footsteps⁣ of ⁢Larian Studios. We⁤ will soon find‍ out⁤ if the ⁤third Baldur’s Gate will live up to its promises. The game is set ⁢to‌ be released on August 3rd for PC and ⁤September 6th for PS5.
