Meta Threads, the new Twitter rival that may already have Elon Musk feeling the heat, is offering Android users a chance to preview upcoming features. An engineer from Meta announced on the platform that Android users can sign up for a beta version of the app. The app launched this week and has already garnered over 30 million sign-ups by Thursday morning. There is currently no mention of an iOS beta program.
While there don’t appear to be any beta builds of the Android app available yet, the program is enticing as the platform still lacks several requested features. These include hashtags, direct messages, a full web version, chronological feeds, a “following” feed, and the ability to delete your profile without wiping your Instagram account.
