Amber Heard Compensates Johnny Depp with Million, Which He Donates to Charity

After Johnny Depp’s birthday, it was revealed that the actor is donating the money he received from his ex-wife Amber Heard to help those in need.

According to a report on Entertainment Tonight, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star will divide a portion of the $1 million he received from Amber Heard among five different charitable organizations, with each organization receiving $200,000. The report also mentions that the charities chosen by Depp have noble causes, ranging from assisting sick children and preserving the environment to providing safe housing for the underprivileged.

In March 2019, Johnny Depp filed a $50 million libel lawsuit against Heard after she published an article in The Washington Post discussing domestic violence. Although Depp’s name was not explicitly mentioned in the article, their controversial divorce in 2016 brought attention to the story.

After several weeks of legal proceedings, the jury finally ruled in favor of Johnny in June 2022. The 60-year-old actor was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.

Despite winning the case against his ex-wife, the same jury held Depp responsible for comments made by his lawyer, Adam Waldman, who referred to Heard’s allegations as a “hoax.” As a result, Heard was awarded $2 million in damages compensation.

In December, Heard filed an appeal but ultimately decided to settle the case.
