Israel has escalated its attacks on Khan Younis in southern Gaza and has deployed tanks westwards, leading to accusations from Jordan that its field hospital in the city has been severely damaged by nearby shelling.
The Jordanian army stated on Wednesday that it holds Israel accountable for a “blatant violation of international law” due to the destruction of the facility.
Meanwhile, in the city, individuals at and near Nasser Hospital were forced to evacuate as Israeli tanks approached the area overnight following a statement from the Israeli army claiming that they had come under fire in the vicinity.
Palestinian health officials reported that at least seven people were killed by Israeli airstrikes that caused damage to homes near the hospital.
The Palestinian health ministry has stated that a total of 24,448 individuals have been killed in the Israeli assault on Gaza since October 7.
According to an Al Jazeera tally based on official figures, at least 1,139 people, mostly civilians, were killed in the Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7.
