A Guide to Obtaining Hearty Bass in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Food items like Hearty Bass are always useful in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but players might want to find where to farm this particular material for upgrades to a powerful armor set. These fish are found in many different spots, from among the Hyrule skies to the many lakes and oceans on the map. However, in each of these locations, players can use a special trick to collect many Bass at once.

The main reason players might want to grab Hearty Bass is for the cooking effects that give Link Full Recovery and Temporary Hearts on some recipes. Full Recovery restores nearly all the player’s health in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, while Temporary Hearts are small yellow hearts added as extra HP that don’t recover for Link. The best use of Hearty Bass, though, comes with upgrading the pieces of the Zora Armor set.

Players can find Hearty Bass in the skies of Hyrule, specifically near the Necluda Sky Archipelago at coordinates (2112, -2621, 1263) and West Hebra Sky Archipelago at coordinates (-3887, 2787, 0709). Devices like Skyview Towers in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are great for launching Link into the air above, allowing players to use their paraglider to move toward these locations.

The West Hebra Sky Archipelago has two large bodies of water with the Ijo-o Shrine that hosts Hearty Bass, with the Shrine acting as a fast travel point if players have unlocked it already. The pond at the Necluda Sky Archipelago is one of the few islands with a waterfall, making it easy for players to see. To go up the waterfall here to find Hearty Bass, players need to have the Zora Armor by completing the “Sidon of Zora” quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Although players can easily fish for Hearty Bass, there is a way to kill many of the fish at once, causing them to float to the surface while players are exploring a pool of water. As seen in a Reddit post by Tcgirl8, a Zonai device in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that creates electricity can be attached under a small raft to spread an electric current underwater as players use a fan to move the contraption forward.
