The upcoming Disney-themed trading card game, Disney Lorcana, hasn’t even been released yet, but some of the cards have been showing up online with skyrocketing prices after special promos and early copies of the game have been made available at events. Disney’s D23 Expo and 2023 GenCon allowed some lucky people to get early copies and limited promotional cards. Many of these are now showing up online in places such as eBay and are valued at high rates in anticipation of the game’s release later this month.
Disney Lorcana is available for pre-order now, with the game officially going on sale at select locations on August 18, 2023, with a full retail release occurring on September 1. As is pretty standard for most TCGs like Magic the Gathering and the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the cards will be sold in random starter decks and booster packs, without the buyer knowing what cards are inside prior to purchase. There are different card rarity levels indicated on each card, with the Enchanted cards being the rarest of the standard, non-promotional sets.
Though only a Legendary, Disney Lorcana’s card number 42/204, featuring Elsa’s Spirit of Winter variation, is the most highly valued of this rarity. Currently priced on TCGPlayer at $54.88 USD, it shows the beautiful Floodborn Hero surrounded by the Amethyst colored ink that will be required to summon her Glimmer to the table. The Enchanted variety of this card was said to have been valued at over $800 but is currently not found online by reputable sites. Elsa is one of the most popular Disney Lorcana characters, and many have speculated that any of the cards featuring this Disney Queen could continue to be highly sought after.
One of the 2023 GenCon Promo cards for Disney Lorcana, card number 11 Mickey Mouse in his Musketeer form has been steadily rising in price since the event. At the time of writing, TCGPlayer shows the card priced at $92.99. While this is a limited edition Promo card with the GenCon logo at the bottom, it has no other differences from the Rare card number 186/204 Mickey Mouse Musketeer, which is available in the standard set packs. Sadly, the non-Promo version currently only shows a value of $11.88 on TCGPlayer, but for people looking to play the game, there is no mechanical difference between the two cards.
One of Disney Lorcana’s secret sixth rarity cards whose number values go beyond that of the standard sets, card number 210/204 is the Enchanted version of Mickey Mouse’s Artful Rogue. As is the case with all Enchanted, it is a shimmering holofoil-style card that is as beautiful as it is valuable. This Emerald ink card features borderless alternate artwork, covering the full amount of illustration space on the card, and is currently listed on TCGPlayer at a price point of $489.99 at the time of writing.
