All of the companions and Origin characters in Baldur’s Gate 3 have classes that are tied to their backstories. This means that some changes to their classes may not align with their narratives. Nevertheless, players can pay a small fee to completely change the class of any playable character by speaking to Withers, the resident undead in the camp. While this freedom allows players to create a party tailored to their needs, there are certain character and class combinations that don’t make sense in terms of the game’s lore.

Jaheira, a returning character and companion in the series, appeared in both Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn. Jaheira is a strong-willed druid whose backstory and beliefs revolve around protecting nature. Given Jaheira’s belief that individuals must actively contribute to the world to make a difference, the class that makes the least sense for her is a College of Lore bard. Traditionally, these bards captivate their audiences with stories and entertainment. While the bard class may work mechanically in Baldur’s Gate 3, it contradicts Jaheira’s character to be a class that primarily focuses on entertainment and collecting tales rather than taking action.
