“10 Hilarious Weapon Combinations in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom”

Overall, Fuse has proved to be an immensely useful new ability in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but there are some weapon combinations that are more funny than they are functional. The new power – which lets Link stick various materials to his weapons, shields, and arrows – is a clever solution to Breath of the Wild’s weapon durability system, which saw weapons constantly breaking to no avail. Indeed, the durability system still exists in TOTK – but with a near infinite number of weapon combinations to test, it’s nowhere near as frustrating as it was before.

Fuse isn’t even the extent of creative liberty that players receive in the newest Zelda title. Ultrahand, which allows Link to build almost anything he can put his mind to, has proved to be the main avenue of experimentation. The Kingdom of Hyrule has seen the invention of everything from flying vehicles to Korok torture machines in Tears of the Kingdom, and the same hilarious juxtaposition applies to Fuse weapon combinations.

Link may have access to fully-fledged hot air balloons, but there’s no fun in those when he can just Fuse an Octo Balloon and a shield together for a haphazard recreation. Much like Fusing a rocket to a shield, the Octo Balloon doesn’t last for long, and in just a few moments, he’ll be floating back down to the ground. However, the few seconds during which Link slowly and silently ascends into the air are priceless.

Almost everything is possible in TOTK – even wielding a two-handed weapon with one hand. Amazingly, by Fusing a two-handed sword to a one-handed sword, Link can receive all the benefits of the heavier weapon while being able to enjoy faster attack speeds and even use a shield. The combination of two swords isn’t the most dramatic, but it’s hilarious to think that players can bypass even the very nature of weapons through Fuse.

The Flame Emitter shield is one of the most useful Fuse combinations in Tears of the Kingdom, but that doesn’t make it any less amusing. The sadistic duo demonstrates that a good defense is indeed the best offense, as Link can simply hide behind his shield and watch his enemies burn to a crisp without ever lifting a finger. It’s especially satisfying against difficult enemies.
