With the increasing frequency of extreme weather events, climate risks are becoming a crucial factor in people’s real estate decisions. Recognizing this, Zillow has partnered with First Street to provide climate risk information on its property listings.
For properties listed in the US, potential buyers will now have access to data on flood, wildfire, wind, heat, and air quality risks specific to each location. Additionally, any climate-related insurance requirements for the property will be highlighted. This valuable information is made possible through First Street’s expertise in climate risk financial modeling.
Zillow is gradually rolling out this climate data feature on its website and iOS app this year, with plans to update the Android app early next year. Some locations already display this information online.
In addition to property listings, Zillow’s interactive map search view now includes color-coded visualizations for each of the five risk categories. This enhancement provides users with a comprehensive understanding of the climate concerns associated with different areas.
