What challenges lie ahead for Erdogan following his victory in the Turkish elections?

Istanbul, Turkey – Recep Tayyip Erdogan, following his third presidential victory, will now turn his attention to the immediate issues facing Turkey.

The economy is at the forefront of the president’s agenda, as he seeks to address the ongoing financial crises plaguing the country.

During the election campaign, Erdogan successfully shifted the focus away from the cost-of-living crisis by increasing pensions and salaries, providing discounts on household energy bills, and redirecting the debate towards security and family values.

However, the Turkish economy is in dire straits, and in his victory speech on Sunday night, Erdogan identified inflation as the primary issue facing the country.

“Resolving the problems caused by price increases and inflation is the most pressing issue of the coming days,” he told supporters outside the presidential palace in Ankara.

“Solving them is not difficult for us. Didn’t we prove this during my time as prime minister?” Erdogan added, referring to his 11-year tenure as prime minister before becoming president in 2014.
