We Can Prove That Peter Parker Will Die in Spider-Man 2

May’s PlayStation Showcase unveiled a new gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The spider-man-2.html” title=”We Can Prove That Peter Parker Will Die in Spider-Man 2″>trailer includes scenes of Peter Parker and Miles Morales swinging through New York, more screen time with Kraven the Hunter, and snippets of Peter in the black symbiote suit. However, there are little details suggesting Peter Parker dies in the upcoming sequel from Insomniac Games.

This doesn’t mean Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be the definite end for Peter, and it’s likely he’ll come back for future installments. But with Spider-Man’s long history of near-death experiences, the knowledge that Kraven the Hunter and the symbiote suit will play big roles in the game, and the possibility the Spider-Verse will be introduced, it’s not a case of “if” Peter Parker dies, but “when”.

The two main antagonists of the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 appear to be Kraven the Hunter and the Venom symbiote. With two iconic Spider-Man villains, it’s likely one of them will be the end of Peter Parker, for multiple reasons. One of the most famous Spider-Man stories of all time is Kraven’s Last Hunt which the first trailer mimics almost perfectly, suggesting the game will follow its storyline. The scene follows Kraven stalking his prey before deciding to set Manhattan as his next hunting ground. A breakdown of the second Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 trailer shows Kraven has taken over a substantial amount of New York, as seen by the hunters surrounding the house of Kurt Connors.

Following established lore, there are a few ways this encounter can play out. Firstly, Kraven becomes more enraged by the fact he cannot capture Spider-Man and falls victim to his own mistakes, and succumbs to the curse that only allows Spider-Man to kill him. Alternatively, Kraven captures and kills Spider-Man leading to a false ending in which the “dead” Peter Parker is buried alive. Though the latter is cruel, it would give the game room to explore other storylines without killing off its original Peter Parker completely.
