Broadcom’s $61 billion acquisition of VMware has been completed after undergoing extensive scrutiny from regulators, according to a press release by the company. The acquisition received approval from China, albeit with certain restrictions, ensuring that the network chip manufacturer obtained all necessary approvals.
“Broadcom has obtained legal merger clearance in various countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, Israel, Japan, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, as well as foreign investment control clearance in all relevant jurisdictions,” stated the company. “We are thrilled to welcome VMware to Broadcom and unite our engineering-focused, innovation-driven teams.”
