Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has emerged from development hell after two years. Paradox Interactive, the game’s publisher, has enlisted The Chinese Room, known for their work on Dear Esther and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, to take over development. The sequel to the original RPG from 2004 is now scheduled for release in fall 2024.
The Chinese Room has kept some of the original concepts while introducing their own vision for Bloodlines 2. The modern-day Seattle setting and some of Hardsuit’s level and art design have been retained. However, creative director Alex Skidmore revealed that the game now features “a new code base with different gameplay mechanics and RPG systems.” Instead of playing as a fresh-faced character, players will assume the role of an elder vampire who has been in stasis for some time.
