Amazon has recently introduced a new feature for Prime Video subscribers, which includes limited advertisements during the viewing experience. The company’s decision to incorporate ads is aimed at generating revenue to invest in high-quality content. However, subscribers who prefer an ad-free experience can opt for an additional $3 monthly fee. It’s worth noting that those who choose the ad-supported tier will lose access to Dolby features. This change was initially reported by German tech publication 4kfilme and later confirmed by Forbes.
Forbes conducted a test by streaming an episode of Jack Ryan, which was encoded with Dolby Vision high dynamic range video and Dolby Atmos sound. The results revealed that the boxes confirming the enabled Dolby Vision and Atmos features were missing.
