Upcoming Congressional Vote on Aid for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan: Mark Your Calendars for April 20th

Speaker Mike Johnson has announced the ⁤publication of three bills on the US House of Representatives⁣ website, providing assistance to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan,‌ including ​military aid, as reported by ⁣Axios.

The bill for Ukraine‍ includes ⁣a total ​of‍ $61 billion, with a significant portion ​allocated ‍for replenishing the ​Pentagon’s arsenal. A portion will also go‌ towards the USAI program, where US military personnel will contract ​with weapons manufacturers. Funds will also be used for the replacement and repair of weapons already provided to the‌ Ukrainian Armed‍ Forces, as well‍ as for ‌training Ukrainian servicemen.

The ⁤White House‍ is responsible for ⁤developing the mechanism for reimbursement and coordinating with Ukrainian authorities. The bill also allows‌ for⁣ loans totaling $7.85‍ billion‌ until September 30, 2025, with provisions ​for debt forgiveness ⁢starting in⁣ November 2025‌ and full forgiveness from ⁢January 2026 with congressional approval.

Furthermore, Ukraine ‌is ⁣set to receive extended-range ATACMS​ missiles under the ⁣bill. The ⁣Pentagon will need to present a plan⁣ for military assistance to Ukraine for the ​fiscal year ending in September within 45 days of the bill’s adoption.

The final vote on these bills is scheduled for April 20, according ​to Speaker Mike Johnson’s note to⁢ parliamentarians.
