Speaker Mike Johnson has announced the publication of three bills on the US House of Representatives website, providing assistance to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, including military aid, as reported by Axios.
The bill for Ukraine includes a total of $61 billion, with a significant portion allocated for replenishing the Pentagon’s arsenal. A portion will also go towards the USAI program, where US military personnel will contract with weapons manufacturers. Funds will also be used for the replacement and repair of weapons already provided to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as for training Ukrainian servicemen.
The White House is responsible for developing the mechanism for reimbursement and coordinating with Ukrainian authorities. The bill also allows for loans totaling $7.85 billion until September 30, 2025, with provisions for debt forgiveness starting in November 2025 and full forgiveness from January 2026 with congressional approval.
Furthermore, Ukraine is set to receive extended-range ATACMS missiles under the bill. The Pentagon will need to present a plan for military assistance to Ukraine for the fiscal year ending in September within 45 days of the bill’s adoption.
The final vote on these bills is scheduled for April 20, according to Speaker Mike Johnson’s note to parliamentarians.
