Dave the Diver has emerged as a standout project in the gaming world over the past year, receiving rave reviews upon its successful release in June 2023. This success has inspired the team at Mintrocket to delve deeper into expanding the Dave the Diver franchise with new titles.
During an exclusive interview with VGC journalists at Gamescom Asia in Singapore, studio head Jaeho Hwang revealed exciting plans for future projects within the Dave the Diver universe. Thanks to support from parent company Nexon, Mintrocket can maintain its independence and focus on developing original IPs.
Hwang shared that initially, character backstories were kept minimal in Dave the Diver b>. However, with its popularity soaring, there are now plans to explore each character’s history through dedicated titles.
In addition to expanding narratives, I envision creating individual games for each character to showcase their origins before they entered the Blue Abyss. The genres may vary; for instance, a prequel about Dave could explore his journey from a different profession before becoming a diver. Similarly, characters like Cobra have intriguing stories waiting to be told across multiple games.
