Aspyr has just released a significant update for the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, addressing over 40 issues, including a bug that has been present since the original titles were launched 19 years ago. However, the update fails to address the main problem that has plagued the new collection since its troubled release.
One of the most notable fixes in the patch notes is the resolution of an issue from the 2005 launch of Star Wars: Battlefront 2, where the Republic and Rebel factions lost two reinforcements instead of one every time a member died on the Death Star. This imbalance has persisted for nearly two decades, particularly affecting PlayStation and Xbox players who did not have the option to use mods to rectify the issue.
While the update addresses various issues such as control schemes, visuals, and audio, it only includes three fixes for the multiplayer aspect of the game. This is concerning, considering that the game still holds an “Overwhelmingly Negative” review score on Steam, largely due to ongoing frustrations with the multiplayer experience.
At launch, the game struggled to accommodate the influx of over 10,000 players, with only three multiplayer servers online, each limited to 64 players. Although Aspyr has since added more servers and continues to make adjustments, players are eagerly awaiting further improvements to the multiplayer modes in the upcoming Update 2.
