With the race for artificial intelligence (AI) dominance heating up, companies are facing a challenge in attracting and retaining AI talent.
Meta, for instance, has been making job offers to AI-experienced candidates without the need for interviews, and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has even reached out to researchers at Google’s DeepMind unit to recruit top talent.
Recent research from the Oxford Internet Institute reveals that AI skills are highly sought after, with workers seeing a 21% increase in wages on average due to the high level of skill complementarity.
In a recent report by Foote Partners, a recruitment and consulting firm, it was found that companies are willing to pay a premium for employees with AI-related skills.
Foote Partners has identified 47 essential AI skills, with employees who possess these skills receiving pay premiums ranging from 7% to 21%. These premiums can take the form of bonuses and additional cash compensation.
David Foote, chief analyst at Foote Partners, highlighted that these premiums are paid out in addition to salaries, with core AI skills commanding pay increases of 15% to 21%, well above the average premium for other non-certified skills.
