April Fools’ Day is probably not the ideal time to make serious announcements. People might mistake the news for a prank and not take it seriously. However, the announcement from Nightdive Studios seems authentic and even aligns with the holiday theme - their new project is bound to bring joy.
The studio has taken on the task of reviving the first-person shooter PO’ed, originally released in 1995. The game follows the story of an enraged spaceship chef who is under attack by monsters from another dimension. As the chef, named Kok, realizes that his fellow combatants have vanished and his soufflé is ruined, it’s time to seek revenge on the malicious creatures!
The protagonist has an array of weapons at his disposal, ranging from a frying pan to a power drill. Drawing inspiration from Doom and Quake, the original developers from Any Channel promise intense battles in the game.
What can you expect from the remastered version:
- Enhanced graphics with updated visual effects and smoothing.
- Up to 120 fps performance in 4K.
- Revamped controls.
- Improved gameplay and bug-fix updates, all of which can be disabled.
- Support for modern monitors, with the interface working in widescreen mode.
- Hardcore difficulty level.
- 15 achievements.
- 16 monsters and 25 three-dimensional levels.
PO’ed: Definitive Edition will be available on PC (Steam), PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The project does not have a release date yet, and unfortunately, Russian language support is not included.
