Starfield’s future could be greatly improved with updates, but there’s one issue that may never be addressed. Despite receiving some acclaim, the game fell short of expectations set by previous RPGs from Bethesda Game Studios. While updates could address some areas for improvement, certain design and story choices may remain frustrating forever.
One common complaint about Starfield is that it lacks the immersion and imagination seen in The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. The game’s reliance on procedural generation sacrifices bespoke content, and its “NASA-punk” aesthetic can feel limiting.
One area where Starfield falls short is the absence of dogs. The game’s lore implies that domesticated canines are intentionally left in the past, a departure from the whimsy found in other Bethesda games.
World-building and realism are weak excuses for excluding dogs in Starfield. Despite the reasoning, it seems unlikely that Bethesda will change its approach in future updates, leaving mod creators as the best option for dog lovers.
