The army has indicated that it is too early to determine the fate of two military horses that sustained severe injuries while running loose in London.
During an exercise in Belgravia, seven horses and six soldiers from the Household Cavalry were startled by construction activity, leading to chaos.
Following the incident, ambulance crews attended to multiple injuries caused by the loose horses colliding with vehicles in various locations.
Two of the injured horses, Vida and Quaker, underwent surgery and are receiving specialized care, while the soldiers are expected to fully recover.
The army remains hopeful for the horses’ recovery but acknowledges that their return to duty is uncertain at this stage.
The army is exploring rehoming options for the horses if they are unable to return to active duty, with offers from various organizations and individuals.
The Horse Trust, a renowned equine charity, is among those willing to provide a sanctuary for the horses if needed.
Despite the challenges, the army remains committed to the well-being of its animals and personnel, ensuring the highest standards of care.
