Ukraine Accused of Launching Drones at Three Russian Regions

Russia has accused Ukraine of launching a series of ⁤drone attacks over the weekend,⁤ targeting border regions and the capital, Moscow. The Russian Ministry of ‌Defense stated that Ukrainian drones were intercepted in‍ the Bryansk ‌and Kursk regions,⁣ with one drone crashing into an apartment building in ⁢Kursk. The Belgorod ⁤border region was also attacked, resulting in one fatality. Ukrainian officials have not yet commented on these claims.

These drone attacks‍ have become more frequent in the ongoing 18-month-long war.‌ Russian officials have reported over two dozen drone attacks in the‍ Moscow region alone since July. The attacks have targeted buildings in central Moscow’s financial district and a supersonic bomber aircraft near⁣ St. Petersburg.‍ While the scale of destruction is not ⁤comparable to Russia’s attacks in Ukraine, they have caused damage and disruption.

American officials believe that these drone attacks are intended‍ to demonstrate Ukraine’s ability to ‍strike back and bring the war ⁢closer to the⁣ people of Russia. Ukraine has also increased attacks on Crimea, claiming clashes with Russian troops. However, it remains uncertain whether these long-distance strikes are affecting Russia’s battlefield operations.

In southern Ukraine, Russian shelling in Zaporizhzhia resulted in one death and four injuries. The Ukrainian Air Force⁢ also reported the deaths of three pilots after two combat training aircraft collided.
