Twitch has officially lifted the three-year ban on former President and current Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s gaming stream channel. The decision to reverse the ban was confirmed in a statement released by Twitch.
In the statement, Twitch announced, “We have reinstated the Twitch channel of former President Trump. We believe it is important to allow direct communication from Presidential candidates whenever possible. Trump is now the official Republican nominee for the US Presidency.”
The ban on President Trump’s account was initially imposed in 2020 for violating Twitch’s policies on hateful conduct and harassment. After a temporary suspension, the account was restored, only to be disabled again following the events of the Jan. 6 riot at the US Capitol in 2021. Twitch cited the “extraordinary circumstances and incendiary rhetoric” as reasons for the indefinite suspension that followed.
In response to the news, four people lost their lives and 174 police officers were injured…
