Twitch streamer Richard Hernandez, known to his followers as Lilshy, experienced a terrifying interruption to his Twitch stream on Monday night.

The 25-year-old was in the middle of a Valorant stream when the sound of gunfire disrupted the broadcast. Hernandez was playing in a team match and was broadcasting from his home in San Antonio, Texas.

The streamer immediately ducked and looked away from his camera as the sound continued. Clips of the incident quickly went viral among Twitch users, including one with over 125,000 views and 2,000 comments. Fellow streamers, including some of his close friends, sent out tweets in support of Hernandez who later described the experience as “incredibly frightening”.

San Antonio police later confirmed that gunshots had been heard in the vicinity but stated that no arrests were made. It is not known who was responsible, or what the motive of the culprits may have been.

Although understandably shaken, Hernandez has been able to continue streaming uninterrupted. However, the incident has served as a reminder of the potential dangers of streaming from home and of the importance of being vigilant.

An increasing number of streamers are relying on streaming as their primary source of income. As such, it is concerning that disruptions to their broadcasts may have become more commonplace, as in this case.

We extend our sympathies to Richard Hernandez and hope that he and all other streamers remain safe.
